Con Murphy (baseball)
Con Murphy (1863–1914) was an American professional baseball pitcher who played in the major leagues in the 1880s. Born October 15, 1863 in Worcester, Massachusetts, he was nicknamed "Monk" and "Razzle Dazzle." He threw right-handed; his batting side is unknown. Murphy debuted in MLB on September 11, 1884 with the Philadelphia Quakers and played his last major league game on September 6, 1890 for the Brooklyn Ward's Wonders. Over his big-league career, he had a win–loss record of 4–13, an earned run average of 5.07, and 39 strikeouts. He also played in the minor leagues between his major league stints. Murphy died on August 1, 1914 in Worcester, Massachusetts, at age 50.
