Ontario Highway 131
Ontario Highway 131 was a short, two-lane provincial road in Simcoe County and the city of Barrie, Ontario. It ran about 6.7 km (4.2 mi) from Highway 27 (Essa Road) in the south to Highway 90 (Dunlop Street West) in the north. The road existed from 1984 until January 1, 1998, when the province downloaded it to local control.
What happened after
- The route became Simcoe County Road 27.
- The former Highway 27 into Barrie is now Essa Road.
What it was like
- A straight, rural road west of Barrie’s suburbs.
- Lined by farms and forests, mostly a two-lane road.
- Passed north of Holly, through farmland and forest, crossed the Barrie Collingwood Railway, and ended at Highway 90.
