One Christmas: Chapter 1
One Christmas: Chapter 1 is a short Christmas EP by American singer LeAnn Rimes. It was released on October 28, 2014 by Iconic Entertainment Group and runs about 20 minutes with six songs. This was Rimes’s second Christmas project, after 2004’s What a Wonderful World, and her first release with Iconic. The EP was co-produced by LeAnn Rimes, Darrell Brown, and Dave Audé, and recorded in three studios: Blackbird Studios in Nashville, Capitol Studios in Hollywood, and Surf Shack in Hollywood. The songs are Christmas favorites, including Silent Night, Christmas in Dixie, and White Christmas, the last being a family favorite for Rimes.
The single from the project, I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas, was released in 2014 and reached number 25 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart.
Critical reception was mixed to positive. AllMusic gave it 3 out of 5 stars, calling it a neat little seasonal treat that stays relaxed with a few lively moments. Country Standard Time said the album isn’t very inventive, but praised Rimes’s consistently strong singing.
On the charts, One Christmas: Chapter 1 peaked at 172 on the Billboard 200 for one week. It spent eight weeks on the Top Country Albums chart, peaking at 20 in December 2014, and reached 35 on the Top Holiday Albums chart for two weeks.
