Lee Lake (Temescal Wash)
Lee Lake is a reservoir in Riverside County, California, created by the Lee Lake Dam on Temescal Creek. It sits at about 1,122 feet (342 meters) above sea level.
Long ago, a small natural lake called Lagunita existed along Temescal Creek, and the dam flooded that site. Lagunita appears on an 1860 Temescal survey map.
In May 1886, the South Riverside Land and Water Company was formed. It bought lands known as Rancho La Sierra and Rancho Temescal, laid out the colony of South Riverside (later Corona), and secured water rights to Temescal Creek, its tributaries, and to Lee Lake. Dams and pipelines were built to bring water to the settlement.
The 1897–1898 U.S. Geological Survey map for the Elsinore Quadrangle shows the dam and Lee Lake.
Today, some fishing operators refer to the lake as Corona Lake.
