Oakwood Village
Oakwood Village is a Toronto neighbourhood in the area once known as York. It sits west of Cedarvale, bounded by Eglinton Avenue West to the north, Dufferin Street to the west, St. Clair Avenue West to the south, and Winona Drive to the east. The northern part includes the Five Points area at the intersection of Oakwood Avenue, Vaughan Road and Belvidere Avenue; the western part is often called Northcliffe Village.
Oakwood Village grew as a streetcar suburb. The main streets are Oakwood Avenue, Vaughan Road, Rogers Road, Dufferin Street, Eglinton Avenue West and St. Clair Avenue West. In 1998, York joined Toronto, so Oakwood Village became part of the city.
What’s there:
- Oakwood Village Business Improvement Area (BIA) founded in 2009; the area hosts an annual Oakwood Village Arts Festival in June.
- The Oakwood Village Community Association (formerly 5 Points Community Action) runs projects like a Belvidere and Oakwood community garden and a Belvidere mosaic.
- The Oakwood Village Transit Island at Oakwood and Vaughan features a tall steel palm tree statue installed in 2010 to symbolize unity; it cost about $4,200.

- Libraries: Oakwood Village Public Library (opened 1997) and nearby Maria A. Shchuka Public Library.
- Arlington Village Project hosts outdoor fairs nearby.
- Public transit: TTC buses 29 Dufferin, 32 Eglinton West, 63 Oakwood Ave; 161 Rogers Road and 90 Vaughan Rd; 512 St. Clair streetcar runs along St. Clair Avenue West just south of OV. The Rogers Road streetcar line was replaced by buses.

- 2016 population: 21,210; density about 9,511 people per km².
- Municipal wards: parts in Ward 15 (Eglinton–Lawrence), Ward 21 (St. Paul’s), Ward 17 (Davenport).
- Provincially and federally, Oakwood Village is in the St. Paul’s riding.
History:
- Founded in 1850 as part of York Township.
