Novi Stars
Novi Stars were an American fashion doll line from MGA Entertainment, launched in 2012. The dolls are alien girls who land on Earth and want to be like humans. They feature big heads, small bodies, inset eyes, and limited articulation. Each doll has a unique feature, a short bio on the box, and comes with a pet and a glow-in-the-dark stand. The box handle can double as a hairband. Most dolls have rooted hair, but a few use wigs; some wigs can be removed to access battery packs for those dolls that need them.
To tell their stories, MGA released short webisodes in 2012 about the dolls adjusting to life on Earth, and there was a live-action music video soon after the launch. In December 2012, Novi Stars had a promotional event at Nickelodeon SlimeFest in Australia.
The line was short-lived. No new Novi Stars were produced after 2013, and the last dolls were released in fall 2014 before the line was discontinued. At Walmart, they were briefly popular before the cancellation.
