Nemzeti Bajnokság II is the third level of Hungarian men’s handball. It is run by the Hungarian Handball Federation. The league has 64 teams divided into eight regional groups (Groups A–H).

During the regular season, each group plays a double round-robin, totaling 14 matches per team.

After the regular season, the groups are paired into four larger groups (A+B, C+D, E+F, G+H). In each combined group, teams are split into an upper and a lower bracket. The top teams in the upper bracket enter a playoff, and the winner earns promotion to Nemzeti Bajnokság I/B. The bottom teams in the lower bracket compete in relegation playoffs, with some teams dropping down to Megyei Bajnokság.
