Myrsini Malakou is a Greek biologist who works to protect the wetlands around Prespa Lake. In 2001 she and fellow biologist Giorgos Catsadorakis won the Goldman Environmental Prize for creating the first cross-border preserve in the Balkans, along the Albania–Greece–North Macedonia border. They promoted conservation through organic farming and traditional environmental practices, and Malakou is credited with researching the threatened Dalmatian pelicans in the area. Since 1991 she has been the Managing Director of the Society for the Protection of Prespa.
