The National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA) is a nonprofit organization based in Seattle that accredits private schools across the United States. It was created in 1993 after the U.S. Department of Education said it did not have authority to recognize private school accrediting agencies, so NCPSA established national standards. It earned tax-exempt status from the IRS in 1996.

Leadership and finances: The organization is led by Daniel Rufo (President and Chairman) and Clayton J. Petry (Executive Director). It reports revenue of about $268,370 and operating income of about $246,364.

Impact: By 2019, NCPSA accredited 4,407 schools with about 2,049,328 students; including pre-accredited and non-accredited schools, it represented 6,663 member schools and 2,288,848 students. As of 2024, it recognizes 35 accrediting agencies. The NCPSA website is ncpsa.org.
