Belgrade Book Fair
Belgrade Book Fair is Serbia’s biggest yearly book event, held in Belgrade at the Belgrade Fair grounds every October. The fair runs eight days and uses halls 1, 1A, 2 and 4, spanning about 30,000 square meters. In 2019, about 184,500 visitors attended, and 1,300 accredited journalists covered it.
Publishers from Serbia and the region, authors, booksellers, librarians, distributors and other book people come to meet, exchange ideas, make business deals and promote culture. Visitors can browse and buy books at special prices and attend author meetings, talks, round tables and workshops.
The Belgrade Book Fair began in 1957 in Belgrade (after the first Yugoslav Book Fair in Zagreb in 1956) and has grown into one of the region’s oldest and most important literary events. Since 2002 there is a Guest of Honor country showcased at Hall 2, and since 2007 the Dositej Obradović Prize honors an international publisher for promoting Serbian literature. Other prizes include Publisher of the Year and Best Children's Book.
The fair is organized by Belgrade Fair with support from the City of Belgrade and is widely regarded as a top cultural event in Serbia. The 2025 edition is scheduled for October 18–26.
