The National Bureau of Corruption Prevention (国家预防腐败局) was a Chinese government agency under the State Council. It began in 2007 to make government more open, improve how corruption is fought, and coordinate anti-corruption work.

The Bureau set up a website to share news and let people report corruption and give feedback. The site received a huge amount of traffic and crashed within hours.

In March 2018, as part of government reforms, it merged with the Ministry of Supervision and the General Administration of Anti-Corruption and Bribery to form the National Supervisory Commission, and the Bureau was dissolved.

The Bureau was separate from the Communist Party’s Central Discipline Inspection Commission (CCDI), which investigates corruption and discipline inside the Party. The CCDI works independently of the government and only covers Party members, including sometimes non-criminal issues like a lavish lifestyle or extramarital relationships.

The Bureau also worked to prevent corruption beyond China, through international cooperation.
