Nantucket Basin is a geological basin in Massachusetts that runs northeast. It formed during the Triassic and Jurassic periods and lies buried under Atlantic Coastal Plain sediments beneath Nantucket. It is about 25 kilometers wide and 100 kilometers long, and its rocks include sandstone and basalt. The rocks dip north and can be up to about 1 kilometer thick, based on seismic data. It is one of several failed Mesozoic rift basins in Massachusetts.
