Derby de Lisboa (Lisbon Derby)

The Derby de Lisboa, or Lisbon derby, is the biggest football rivalry in Portugal. It’s played between Benfica and Sporting, two of the country’s most successful clubs based in Lisbon.

Origin
The rivalry began in 1907 after eight Benfica players moved to Sporting, sparking the first derby.
