Namakab Rud is a small town in Mazandaran Province, northern Iran, in Chalus County. It lies about 12 km east of East Chalus. The new Namakab Rud township covers about 650 hectares, with the Caspian Sea to the north and Hyrcanian forests to the south. The town has two parts: a residential area with eight neighborhoods and a separate tourist area. The residential part is designed to support up to 100,000 visitors, and its entrance roads are kept distinct from the tourist zones. The tourist area offers many facilities, such as an amusement park, telecabins (cable cars), sledding, ziplines, an ATV/karting park, an adventure park, and a shooting club. Many villa communities nearby attract visitors from Tehran and Karaj.

Population history: In 2006, 354 people in 71 families lived there; by 2016, the population fell to 83 people in 25 households.

Climate: Namakab Rud has a humid subtropical climate, with warm, humid summers and cool, damp winters.

Transport/tourism: It is a tourist town and has an aerial tramway that runs from sea level up to the tops of the Alborz mountains, passing through dense northern forests.
