NRL Women's Grand Final
The NRL Women's Grand Final is the championship game of the NRL Women's Premiership, which began in 2018. After a playoff series, the winning team is crowned the season champion, just like the men's competition. The first two Grand Finals were held at Stadium Australia in Sydney on the same day as the men's final.
The Grand Final is usually played in Sydney, where most clubs are based. Stadium Australia is one of the country’s largest venues. The winner earns a spot to play in the World Club Challenge against the champions of the Women's Super League. The main prize is the NRLW Premiership Trophy, and the best player in the grand final is awarded the Karyn Murphy Medal. Premiership medals are given to players, and premiership rings are produced for the team and coach.
Afffinity Diamonds makes the premiership rings. Prize money is provided, but the win is mainly about prestige and potential growth in membership and merchandise for the club. The event typically begins with the national anthem, and some Grand Finals include additional musical entertainment.
In 2022, the Grand Final set a world record crowd of 40,649 at Stadium Australia. The match is broadcast free-to-air in Australia on Nine Network, with exclusive replay rights for 12 hours after the game on Fox League and Kayo Sports. Online streaming partners are 9Now and Kayo Sports. Outside Australia, the season is available on WatchNRL. Radio coverage across the country includes Triple M (FM), ABC Local Radio, and 2GB (AM), with all radio streams available via the NRLW site.
