Humboldt Seed Company
Humboldt Seed Company is a cannabis seed company based in California. It was founded in 2001 by Nathaniel Pennington in the Emerald Triangle. The company keeps a large database of cannabis varieties and sells seeds and living plants. Starting in 2018, they ran phenotype hunts with California growers to collect samples. In 2022 they were the first to register autoflowering cannabis in Colombia and they created the first scratch-and-sniff cannabis packaging with terpenes that match the contents. In July 2025, they participated in the California State Fair’s Cannabis Experience, selling seed packets for one penny to visitors aged 21 and older. They distributed over 15,000 seeds, one of the largest legal seed distributions in U.S. history, to promote home growing and reduce cannabis stigma.
