My Way (Gene Ammons album)
My Way is a studio album by jazz saxophonist Gene Ammons, released in 1971 on Prestige (PR 10022). It was recorded on July 26, 1971, at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, and runs 34 minutes and 18 seconds. The album was produced by Bob Porter and sits in Ammons’ chronology between You Talk That Talk! (1971) and Chicago Concert (1971).
Reception: AllMusic gave the album 1.5 stars. The reviewer, Scott Yanow, said Ammons’s tone remains strong, but the arrangements feel dated and the rhythm section is uninspired, noting the electric piano performance by Roland Hanna as a drawback.
