Muhaber
Muhaber is a former village in southeastern Slovenia. It is now part of the city of Novo Mesto, in the Lower Carniola traditional region and the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region. The settlement sits on a terrace above the railway from Ljubljana to Metlika, at about 206 meters elevation. Nearby features include Žabjek Hill to the west and a Roma settlement to the northwest. Coordinates are 45°49′20″N 15°08′42″E.
The name Muhaber means "gathering flies" and was first recorded as Muhober and Muhoberi in 1780. It may come from a joking nickname for residents, similar to Muhabran ("fighting flies"). Archaeological finds show ancient settlement: a Hallstatt culture cemetery with cremations and a Roman cemetery were uncovered in the area.
Muhaber was annexed by Novo Mesto in 1979, ending its status as an independent village.
