Mona Wallén-Hjerpe
Mona Wallén-Hjerpe, also known as Sjösalakvinnan (The Sjösala Woman), was born on January 24, 1932 in Stockholm and died on June 19, 2008. She was a Swedish author who became infamous for burning down Evert Taube’s summer house Sjösala on December 19, 1969. After the fire, she was placed in a psychiatric hospital. She confessed to the fire on March 10, 1970, and on August 1 she was ordered to be treated for schizophrenia in a mental hospital.
In 1987 she wrote Sjösala brinner (Sjösala Is Burning), where she describes her relationship with the Taube family, including the line: "Evert Taube promises to marry me, but I end up in a psychiatric hospital." She is depicted as Lena Nylén in Fredrik Strage’s 2005 book Fans, which was later turned into a stage play at Södra Teatern in Stockholm. Wallén-Hjerpe also inspired Swedish singer Thomazes’s 2012 song "You're In Love With Me."
