Nakamura Baijaku II, also known as Manabu Nakamura, was born Shinichi Mitsui on December 12, 1955, in Musashino, Tokyo. He is a Japanese actor, bassist, and composer who has been active since 1965. He studied at Tokyo Metropolitan Ogikubo High School and Toho Gakuen College of Drama and Music, and comes from a family of kabuki actors. His trade name is Narikomaya, and he debuted in 1965 as Nakamura Manabu. He learned kabuki and modern theater with the Zenshinza troupe. In 1980, during Zenshinza’s 50th anniversary, he adopted his great-grandfather’s name Baijaku and became Nakamura Baijaku II. In 2007, at the final performance of Otose, he left Zenshinza to become freelance.
