Milton W. Shreve
Milton William Shreve (May 3, 1858 – December 23, 1939) was a Republican lawyer and politician from Pennsylvania. He was born in Chapmanville, Pennsylvania, and studied at Edinboro State Normal School, Allegheny College, and Bucknell University, graduating in 1884. He practiced law in Erie, Pennsylvania, and served as Erie County district attorney from 1899 to 1902.
Shreve was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1907 to 1912 and was the speaker in 1911. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, serving in the Sixty-third Congress (1913–1915). After losing reelection in 1914, he returned to law, banking, and manufacturing.
He was elected again to Congress, serving in the Sixty-sixth Congress (1919–1921), then as an Independent Republican in the Sixty-seventh (1921–1923), and as a Republican in the Sixty-eighth through Seventy-second Congresses (1923–1933). He did not win reelection in 1932 and returned to practicing law in Erie until his death. He is buried in Erie Cemetery.
