ZKSCAN5 is a human gene that encodes a zinc finger transcription factor containing a SCAN box and a KRAB A domain. These features suggest it helps regulate gene expression by binding DNA. The gene is located on human chromosome 7q22.1, spanning about 99.5 to 99.54 million base pairs. In mice, a related protein is encoded on chromosome 5 and shows differential expression during spermatogenesis, pointing to a possible role in reproductive development. There are two described transcript variants that differ in their 5' untranslated region (5' UTR), and additional variants have been found, but their full-length sequences have not yet been determined. ZKSCAN5 has several aliases, including ZFP95 and ZNF914.
