Sexy Dancer is a Prince song released in the United Kingdom in April 1980 as the second single from his second album. It wasn’t released as a single in the United States, and Japan followed with a May 1980 release. The track is a disco number with few lyrics, featuring a strong bass line, grunts, and screams, and it also shows rock and R&B influences.

The 12-inch single, released only in the UK, was Prince’s first non-album extended version. Copies can fetch high prices. The 12" adds longer bass and guitar solos and more repeats of the refrain; the LP and 7" versions are shortened edits, making the 12" feel like the original.

Sexy Dancer was popular in live performances, often giving band members room for instrumental solos. Prince later modified the song in live shows, including the 2007 Earth Tour, where it incorporated different lyrics and elements from the disco classic Le Freak.

The B-side varied by region: the UK used "Bambi," while Japan used "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?" A claim briefly appeared in popular culture that the song was written about a particular person after a fling with Prince.
