Michel Dobry
Michel Dobry is a French political scientist born in 1946. He has taught at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne since 2001 and serves on the editorial board of the Revue française de science politique. Since the 1980s, he has studied political crises, with a focus on fascism and the National Front. In 2003 he published a major collective work, The Myth of French Allergy to Fascism, bringing together contributions from several scholars. Dobry has developed ideas like the "fluid political conjuncture" and "collusive transactions," offering a horizontal view of legitimacy as an alternative to Max Weber's vertical model. His book Sociology of Political Crises marked a turning point in how revolutions are analyzed, presenting a distinct approach from traditional social sciences. He argues against the notion that French society is immune to fascism and emphasizes the importance of studying the right in French political history.
