Michael Marketo
Michael Marketo (born 27 May 1959 in Sydney, New South Wales) is a former Australian rugby league player who competed in the 1980s. He played for the Balmain Tigers in the NSWRL, mainly as a prop or second-row. A Balmain junior, Marketo made his first-grade debut in 1983 in Round 6 against Manly-Warringah at Brookvale Oval. He scored his first try in 1984 in Round 5 against Penrith. Between 1983 and 1987, he appeared in 59 games and scored 3 tries (12 points). In 1985 he played 10 games as Balmain reached the minor semi-final against Parramatta, losing 32–4. His best season came in 1986 when Balmain reached the preliminary final but were defeated by Canterbury-Bankstown 28–16. Marketo played one more season in 1987; his last top-grade game was Round 21 against North Sydney at Leichhardt Oval, which Balmain won 28–14. He is the father of Jake Marketo.
