Michael Katsuhisa
Michael Katsuhisa, born April 26, 1983, in Tokyo, is a former professional basketball player and the head coach of the Shinshu Brave Warriors in the B.League. He went to Nishimachi International School in Tokyo and Bellevue High School in Washington, then played college basketball at Senshu University.
He was drafted fifth overall by Osaka Evessa in the 2009 bj League draft. After one season as a player, he joined Evessa’s reserve team as a coach but returned as a player in January 2011 due to injuries. In the 2011 off-season, he left Osaka to become an assistant coach and interpreter for the Yokohama B-Corsairs under Reggie Geary, helping the team win the 2012-13 championship.
In 2013 he became head coach of the B-Corsairs. The team struggled after losing key players, finishing 24-28 in his first season, and went 18-34 in 2014-15. In June 2015 he became head coach of Shimane Susanoo Magic for the 2015-16 season. He was later replaced at the B-Corsairs by Taketo Aoki. In 2017-2018 he served as an assistant coach for Link Tochigi Brex, and in 2018 he became head coach of Shinshu Brave Warriors.
His older brother Geoffrey Katsuhisa is an interpreter and became head coach of the Iwate Big Bulls in 2015.
