Metal Powder Company
MEPCO (The Metal Powder Company Limited) is located in Thirumangalam, Madurai district, Tamil Nadu, India. It was founded in 1961 and started production in 1965. MEPCO makes non-ferrous metal powders (such as aluminium, copper, zinc, cobalt, tungsten, tin, and more) and also produces copper and zinc alloys. Its powders are used by many industries, including fireworks, paints and printing inks, mining explosives, ordnance, space, cutting tools, and brake linings. The company’s turnover exceeded Rs 200 crore in 2007–08. The Mepco Schlenk Trust, formed by MEPCO, established the Mepco Schlenk Engineering College at Sivakasi.
