Philonix is a genus of oak gall wasps in the family Cynipidae. Species are known from Canada, the United States, and Mexico. The larvae create galls on white oaks that are usually spherical, soft, and fleshy, and these galls typically form on the underside of leaves. Adult Philonix wasps look similar to those in Acraspis. In many gall wasps, generations can alternate between sexual and asexual forms, but this has not been documented for Philonix. The genus was named by Asa Fitch in 1859.

Taxonomy: Kingdom Animalia; Phylum Arthropoda; Class Insecta; Order Hymenoptera; Family Cynipidae; Genus Philonix Fitch, 1859.
