Mercy is a nonprofit Catholic health care system based in the Midwest. It was founded in 1871 by the Religious Sisters of Mercy. Mercy runs more than 40 hospitals, with over 40,000 employees and about 2,400 physicians. It serves Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas, and it runs outreach programs in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. The headquarters are in Chesterfield, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. Mercy is the seventh-largest Catholic health care system in the United States. Its largest campuses are in Greater St. Louis; Springfield and Joplin in Missouri; Northwest Arkansas; Fort Smith, Arkansas; and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Steve Mackin has been the CEO since April 1, 2022, and former president and CEO was Lynn Britton (2009–2022). For more information, visit mercy.net.
