The Bishop of Bermuda is the leader of the Anglican Church in Bermuda. Bermuda’s church is one of six extra-provincial Anglican churches under the Archbishop of Canterbury. The current bishop is Nick Dill.

Bermuda was settled in 1612 after the Sea Venture shipwreck, and the Reverend Richard Buck led the first Church of England services there. For a long time there was no local bishop. The first bishop to oversee Bermuda from outside was Charles Inglis, named in 1787 as Bishop of the Diocese of Nova Scotia.

From 1825 to 1839, Bermuda was part of the Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Later, Bermuda and Newfoundland formed the Diocese of Newfoundland, with Aubrey George Spencer as the first bishop.

Although Bermuda and Newfoundland were in British North America, they did not join the Canadian Confederation in 1867. Newfoundland became a Dominion in 1907, then reverted to a colony in 1934.

In Bermuda, the Synod was formed in 1879, and a separate Diocese of Bermuda was created. For a time Bermuda and Newfoundland shared a bishop, but in 1919 Bermuda and Newfoundland each got its own bishop.
