Meet the Simon Sisters
Meet the Simon Sisters is the debut studio album by Lucy Simon and Carly Simon, released in 1964 by Kapp Records. The sisters, who performed folk songs, had a minor hit with “Winkin’, Blinkin’ and Nod,” a Eugene Field poem set to music by Lucy. The single reached No. 73 on the Billboard Hot 100. They followed with the album Cuddlebug, recorded during the same sessions.
In 2006, Hip-O-Select re-released Meet the Simon Sisters together with Cuddlebug on a single disc titled "Winkin’, Blinkin’ and Nod: The Kapp Recordings." Carly provided liner notes for the booklet. The release was sold exclusively through Hip-O-Records.com and Amazon.com, with only 4,000 copies printed; it is now out of print. All songs on the album are traditional unless noted otherwise.
The song “Winkin’, Blinkin’ and Nod” was first recorded in 1929 by Dan Hornsby.
