Medea (Artemisia Gentileschi)
Medea is an oil painting by the Italian Baroque artist Artemisia Gentileschi. It shows Medea, a figure from Greek mythology, at the moment she kills her son. The painting’s location and size are unknown. It is believed to have been painted in the 1620s, probably the late 1620s, when Gentileschi was in Venice. It was first shown as a Gentileschi in 2017 in Rome during the exhibition Artemisia Gentileschi e il suo tempo.
