Roland Anderson (November 18, 1903 – October 29, 1989) was an American art director who helped shape the look of many classic films. Born in Boston, he worked in movies from 1932 to 1969. He received 15 Academy Award nominations for art direction but never won. His first nomination was for A Farewell to Arms (1933). A frequent collaborator with Cecil B. DeMille, Anderson worked on Cleopatra (1934), The Buccaneer (1938), and North West Mounted Police (1940). Other notable films include Holiday Inn (1942), Road to Utopia (1946), Son of Paleface (1952), and Will Penny (1967). He was married to Dorthee and died in Los Angeles at the age of 85.
