Mayhem Festival 2011
Mayhem Festival 2011 was the fourth annual heavy metal tour organized by Kevin Lyman. It ran in the United States and Canada from July 9 to August 14, 2011, with 27 shows.
This year featured a rotating main stage and brought back multiple acts from previous tours. Each day, one band opened the main stage while the other two acts headlined on the Jägermeister Mobile Stage and the Revolver Stage.
The main stage openings were split among three bands: Machine Head from the start until July 20, Trivium from July 22 to August 2, and In Flames from August 3 onward until they left the tour. When one band opened the main stage, the other two served as headliners on the other stages.
On July 31, 2011, In Flames announced they could not continue with the tour due to a serious illness in a family member, canceling their remaining U.S. shows on the Mayhem tour and their own U.S. headline dates. They said they would return at the start of 2012.
The lineup was officially announced on January 31, 2011.
