Max Dunn
Maxell Walter Dumont Dunn (1895 – 4 September 1963) was an Australian editor, publisher, poet, and literary translator. He was born in Dublin, Ireland. Details of his early life are unclear; he claimed to have studied at the University of Edinburgh and in France and the United States, before moving to Australia in 1924 and settling in Melbourne. There is no evidence that he served in the Royal Flying Corps during World War I. Dunn worked as a psychotherapist, poet, publisher, and journalist for The Argus, Smith's Weekly, and other Melbourne newspapers and magazines. He also translated Chinese literature into English. In 1955 he became a Buddhist priest. Dunn died of cancer in the Melbourne suburb of South Yarra.
