Mauricio Lara Acosta, known as Bronco, was born on February 23, 1998 in Mexico City. He is a Mexican professional boxer who fights at featherweight and super featherweight. His professional record is 28 wins, 3 losses, and 2 draws in 33 fights, with 21 wins by knockout.

Lara’s breakout came in February 2021 in London when he faced undefeated former IBF featherweight champion Josh Warrington. Lara landed a left hook and dropped Warrington in the fourth round, and he knocked him down again in the ninth. Warrington couldn’t recover, and Lara scored a major upset as Warrington suffered his first career loss. The rematch was set for September 4, 2021 in Leeds, but it ended in a technical draw after Lara was cut above the eye in a head clash.

In 2022, Leigh Wood was set to defend the WBA featherweight title against Lara, but Wood withdrew due to a torn biceps. The fight eventually took place on February 18, 2023, and Lara knocked Wood out with a left hook in the seventh round, becoming the WBA featherweight champion.

Lara was scheduled to defend the title on May 27, 2023 in Manchester, but he missed weight by about 3.8 pounds and was stripped of the belt. He then lost to Wood by unanimous decision on that night.

On February 16, 2024, Lara fought Daniel Lugo in Oaxaca in a 10-round bout that ended in a majority draw. He is scheduled to fight Edwing Davila in a 10-round super featherweight bout in Mexico City on January 31, 2025.
