Maung Maung Ohn is a Burmese army general and politician who serves as Myanmar’s Union Minister of Information, a position he has held since August 1, 2021 under the military government. He previously served as Union Minister of Hotels and Tourism from February to August 2021. Earlier, he was the 2nd Chief Minister of Rakhine State from 2014 to 2016 and before that Deputy Minister of Home Affairs. He holds the rank of Major General in the Myanmar Army. An ethnic Burman, he was nominated by President Thein Sein for the Chief Minister post in Rakhine State and was confirmed by the Rakhine State Hluttaw on June 30, 2014, despite calls from some groups for an ethnic Rakhine to hold the position. He is a member of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP). In the 2025–26 general election, he ran as the USDP candidate for the Pyithu Hluttaw in Tatkon Township, Naypyidaw, a contest described by independent observers as a sham.
