Hans Tórgarð
Hans Christoffer Wenningsted Tórgarð, born in 1969, is a Faroese actor, director and dramatist. In the Faroe Islands he is known mainly for stage acting and for voicing characters in Faroese radio plays and children’s TV series translated into Faroese. He has worked at the Faroese National Theatre since 1991 and has voiced several characters for Faroese children’s television. He played Dvalinn in the Icelandic series Trapped in 2015 and 2016.
He grew up in Kvívík, Faroe Islands. His father, Axel Tórgarð, was a priest and translator who translated The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit into Faroese. His sisters Ria and Súsanna are also well-known actors in the Faroe Islands. His grandfather was architect H. C. W. Tórgarð. The family loved acting from a young age, and they once staged Hansel and Gretel for a birthday party. In a 1998 interview, they recalled how their mother taught them acting and helped as a whisperer during performances. He earned a Master of Arts in theater at Teaterhögskolan in Helsinki, Finland, in 1999.
