Margaret Ruth Bhatty (born Margaret Ruth Grundy; October 5, 1930 – July 20, 2012) was an Indian schoolteacher, freelance journalist, and writer for children and adults. She was born in Berinag, in the United Provinces (now Uttarakhand), British India, and grew up in the Kumaon region with a love of nature.

She studied at Wellesley Girls School in Nainital, earned a BA from Isabella Thoburn College in Lucknow, and completed a postgraduate degree in journalism in Nagpur. On December 17, 1954, she married Feroze Bhatty, and they had two children: Arvind (born 1955) and Pritam (born 1960).

Bhatty worked as a teacher at Kimmins High School in Panchgani and All Saints Girls School in Nainital, and later taught at Isabella Thoburn College. She also wrote for The Hitavada newspaper in Nagpur and contributed to Target magazine and other journals around the world.

Her notable works include All is Maya, All is Illusion and My Enemy, My Friend. She won the BBC World Service International Story Contest in 1982 for All is Maya, All is Illusion, and in 1995 her radio play My Enemy, My Friend won the BBC World Service International Drama Contest.

Margaret Bhatty passed away on July 20, 2012, in Jehangir Hospital, Pune.
