North Gwinnett High School
North Gwinnett High School is a public high school in Suwanee, Georgia, and part of Gwinnett County Public Schools. The principal is Nathan Ballentine.
The school opened in 1958 on land donated by the estate of Tom Robinson, built to combine Suwanee High and Sugar Hill High. The football field is named for Tom Robinson. In its early years, NGHS served grades 8–12, with 328 students in 1960. The 8th grade was removed after a new middle school opened in 1973–74, and the student body reached 606 by then. The school grew a lot over the years, surpassing 2,800 students in later decades. Enrollment was 2,670 in 2011–2012 and 2,846 in 2018–2019. For 2023–2024, enrollment was 3,067, with about 165.6 teaching staff and a student-teacher ratio of about 18.5 to 1.
NGHS has earned several honors, including a 2009 silver award in the Single Statewide Accountability System and recognition as an Advanced Placement Honors School in 2010. Students participate in many activities, such as Beta Society, Student Council, Robotics, Quiz Bowl, HOSA, TSA, DECA, FBLA, and Relay for Life.
The football team won the 2017 state championship (Class AAAAAAA), and the girls’ varsity soccer team won the 2019 state championship (Class AAAAAAA).
School colors are red, black, and white, and the mascot is the Bulldogs. Rivals include Norcross, Collins Hill, Peachtree Ridge, and Mill Creek. The school is located at 20 Level Creek Road, Suwanee, GA 30024. Its website is northgwinnett.com, and its newspaper is The Red & Black.
