Government Girls P.G. College
Government Girls P.G. College is a public postgraduate college for women in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, India. It sits on the Gwalior-Allahabad National Highway, next to Narshingh Mandir, about 45 km from Khajuraho, on a campus of around nine acres.
The college offers postgraduate programs in Arts, Science and Home Science and currently has about 720 girl students. It is the only postgraduate girls college in the three districts of Panna, Chhatarpur and Tikamgarh.
History and administration: The institution began in 1968 as Arts and Home Science Girls College, started by the M.P. Education Society as a private college with about 20–25 students. The government took over administration on 1 October 1982 and it was declared a postgraduate college in 1996. It is under the Add. Director Higher Education, Rewa, and is affiliated with Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar, about 165 km away from Chhatarpur.
Chhatarpur, in Bundelkhand, was founded by Maharaja Chhatrasal. The city falls under the 49th assembly constituency and the Khajuraho parliamentary constituency. The area is connected by rail via Harpalpur Station, about 58 km away.
