Marcus Conyers is an author and educator who creates graduate programs that connect mind, brain, and classroom practice. He has coauthored more than 20 books with Donna Wilson, including Smarter Teacher Leadership and Five Big Ideas for Effective Teaching. He led the development of a Brain-Based Leadership doctoral minor and helped create Brain-Based Teaching degree programs at Nova Southeastern University; he also supervises Ph.D. work at Canterbury Christ Church University. Conyers co-founded the Center for Innovative Education and Prevention (CIEP) and started BrainSMART, a program that helps students stay motivated, focused, and able to apply what they learn. He believes everyone has untapped cognitive potential and that strong leadership can turn that potential into better performance and well-being by applying brain science to teaching. He earned a Ph.D. from the University of Westminster and an MSc from the University of Huddersfield, writes blogs for Edutopia and Edweek, and has presented his work at conferences around the world.
