Manitoba Provincial Road 264
Provincial Road 264 (PR 264) is a 119.2-kilometre north–south highway in Manitoba’s Westman and Parkland Regions. It connects Crandall, Decker, Kelloe, Rossburn, and Silver Beach, running from PTH 24 in Crandall to PTH 83 near Russell-Binscarth.
Route overview
- Start: PTH 24 in Crandall, Prairie View Municipality. The road runs north as a paved two-lane highway along the east side of Crandall, then becomes gravel and continues to PR 469.
- Crosses Arrow River and enters the Hamiota Municipality, passing through Decker with an intersection at PR 355.
- Makes a switchback into the Rural Municipality of Yellowhead, continues north through farmland, crosses Arrow River again, and meets PTH 42.
- Enters the community of Kelloe, crosses a railway, and briefly overlaps with PTH 16 (Yellowhead Highway) westbound.
- Re-enters Prairie View Municipality, then PR 264 splits off and heads north as a paved two-lane highway.
- Travels through farmland, enters the Rossburn Municipality, intersects PR 359, and enters Rossburn on Main Street, where it passes through town and meets PTH 45.
- Leaves Rossburn and meets PR 577 (pavement ends). The route continues on gravel, with a switchback at Glen Elmo.
- Makes a sharp turn west and follows the southern boundary of Riding Mountain National Park.
- Entering the Rural Municipality of Riding Mountain West, PR 264 travels west past Silver Beach (via Sawaryn Road) and meets PR 476, then encounters another switchback.
- Exits the National Park area, intersects PR 478, passes through Cracknell, and ends at an intersection with PTH 83 along the border with Russell-Binscarth.
History
- Before 1992, the entire length of PR 264 was part of a longer PR 254, which existed since 1966. In 1992, PR 264 was designated along this route.
