Move (Little Mix song)
Move is a 2013 single by British girl group Little Mix from their second album, Salute. It was released on 7 October 2013 and runs 3 minutes and 44 seconds. The song blends dance-pop and R&B and marked a shift toward a more production-led sound for the group. It was written by Little Mix members Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall, along with Maegan Cottone and Nathan Duvall, and produced by Nathan Duvall. Critics praised Move for taking a musical risk and its catchy, bass-driven vibe; Billboard later named it one of the 100 Greatest Girl Group Songs of All Time.
Move peaked at number 3 on the UK Singles Chart and number 5 on the Irish Singles Chart, later charting in eight other countries including Australia, France, and Japan. The official music video premiered on 25 October 2013 and features the group performing sharp, hip-hop–influenced dance in bright, colorful settings and stages.
Little Mix performed Move on The X Factor in Australia and the UK, as well as on U.S. television and other shows to promote Salute. The track received platinum certification in the UK and Brazil and gold in Australia.
Lyrically, Move is about calling out guys who think they’re too cool to dance and telling them to move. The group has described the song as a sign of their growth and willingness to take risks musically.
