Manchester, Point and Wabash Bridge Piers

The Manchester, Point and Wabash bridge piers are the remaining parts of three old Pittsburgh bridges. The Manchester Bridge opened in 1915 and connected the North Shore to The Point. It was demolished in 1970, but its northern pier stayed. In 2009, this pier became an arched walkway that leads to a statue of Fred Rogers.

Piers from the Point Bridge (opened 1927) and the Wabash Bridge (opened 1903) also remain.

In 1977, all three surviving piers were added to the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmarks list.
