Maltebrunia

Maltebrunia is a small genus of African grasses in the grass family (Poaceae). The type species is Maltebrunia leersioides. Another species is Maltebrunia prehensilis, which has also been called Prosphytochloa prehensilis, found in South Africa and Eswatini. The genus is placed in the subfamily Oryzoideae, tribe Oryzeae, subtribe Oryzinae. Previously, Maltebrunia was treated as a section of the rice genus Oryza (Oryza sect. Maltebrunia). The genus was described by Kunth.
