Francis Carolus Eeles
Francis Carolus Eeles OBE (1876 – 17 August 1954) was an English liturgical scholar and church historian from Dunster. He served on the Warham Guild’s Advisory Committee. In 1914 he gave the Rhind Lectures on The Liturgy and Ceremonial of The Mediaeval Church in Scotland. He was the first secretary of the Central Council for the Care of Churches, serving as honorary secretary from 1917 and as paid secretary from 1926 until his death. He was awarded the OBE in 1938. In 1939 he began collecting information about English parish churches to help with their restoration after wartime damage. He left his books to form the core of the library for the Council for the Care of Churches, and his papers are kept at the Church of England Record Centre. He is buried at All Saints, Selworthy, Somerset.
