Máté Kanász-Nagy
Máté Kanász-Nagy (born 3 October 1986) is a Hungarian politician and member of the National Assembly since 2022. He belongs to the Greens (LMP) and was the party’s male co-leader from August 2020 to August 2022, serving with Erzsébet Schmuck.
He has lived in Újpest since he was three years old. He graduated in 2010 with a degree in sociology from Eötvös Loránd University and has been active in LMP since its early days in 2010. In 2011 he worked as a political consultant. He has held several roles in the party, including LMP Youth spokesman (2015), LMP spokesman (2017), and Secretary of the National Presidency (2018).
Kanász-Nagy has been involved in local politics in Újpest. He ran in municipal elections there, and in 2019 he was elected as a district representative to the Újpest District Assembly and was chosen deputy mayor responsible for public welfare by the assembly.
In the 2022 parliamentary elections, he was elected to Parliament on the joint United for Hungary list and joined the Legislative Committee. He did not run for the LMP presidency in August 2022 and was succeeded as male co-chair by Péter Ungár.
