Low Cut Connie is an American rock and roll band from Philadelphia. Frontman Adam Weiner has led the group since it started in 2010 as a casual recording session. They’re known for loud, high-energy live shows and for Weiner’s piano-driven songs.

Origin of the name: it came from mixing “Low Cut” and “Connie,” inspired by a diner waitress Connie pictured on the debut cover.

Key albums and moments:
- Get Out the Lotion (2011) was recorded in a Gainesville, Florida garage and quickly drew strong praise.
- Call Me Sylvia (2012) received favorable reviews, and Barack Obama included the song Boozophilia on his 2015 Spotify playlist.
- Hi Honey (2015) was produced by Thomas Brenneck and featured many guest musicians; it earned praise from NPR and other critics.
- Dirty Pictures Part 1 (2017) and Part 2 (2018) kept up the band’s raw, garage-rock energy. The singles and the albums drew wide attention, with Part 2 landing on rolling lists of the year’s best music.
- Private Lives (2020) is a 17-song double album recorded on the road with a broader cast of performers; it earned strong reviews from critics and appeared on several year-end lists.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, when touring stopped, Adam Weiner started Tough Cookies, a weekly livestream variety show from his Philadelphia home. The program received praise for its intimacy and energy, and The New Yorker named Weiner “Pandemic Person of the Year” for his efforts to lift spirits.

The band has won support from big figures like Barack Obama, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Howard Stern, and Nick Hornby. They performed during Joe Biden’s inauguration events in 2021 and have appeared on television, including Seth Meyers in 2018.

Low Cut Connie remains a DIY, live-first act. With Weiner at the center and a rotating group of musicians around him, they continue to tour and release energetic, piano-driven rock that fans say captures the power of live music.
