Liparis mucosus
Liparis mucosus, the slimy snailfish, is a small fish found in the Northeastern Pacific from Sitka, Alaska to southern British Columbia, Canada, and down to Baja California, Mexico. It lives from the intertidal zone to about 15 meters deep, but is usually not found in tide pools. It grows to about 2.8–5 inches long. Color ranges from gray to brown to red, and some individuals have dark stripes. It has a small front lobe on its dorsal fin, and its gill slit reaches the front of the upper pectoral fin rays. The dorsal and anal fins do not extend onto the tail.
